Sourcing Leader - Capital Projects

The Capital Sourcing Leader is responsible for developing strategies to effectively implement capital investments across global operations. This role requires collaboration with business leaders to create capital-efficient approaches that support long-term operational and growth objectives while balancing risk and reward. The position uses data-driven analysis to guide decisions on optimizing capital execution and building strategic partnerships that minimize total life cycle costs and operational expenses.

Capital Sourcing Leader Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and execution of capital sourcing strategies aligned with business growth and operational objectives.
  • Collaborate with key business leaders to ensure sourcing strategies are aligned with long-term goals and competitive market insights.
  • Develop and implement long-term sourcing and business plans that support the company’s strategic goals and adapt to evolving market and business conditions.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts for engineering, procurement, and construction services, ensuring cost-effective and timely project delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong, multi-region supplier relationships to drive capital cost efficiency and innovation.
  • Oversee supplier compliance with contracts, including risk management and the development of contingency plans.
  • Champion continuous improvement in capital sourcing by challenging existing processes and introducing more efficient methodologies.
  • Drive year-over-year improvements in capital cost and efficiency by leveraging supplier relationships and innovative solutions.

Capital Sourcing Leader Qualifications:
  • 5-10 years of experience in construction, engineering, or technical sourcing within a matrixed organization, managing both corporate and business unit responsibilities.
  • 5+ years of experience drafting, negotiating, and managing high-value contracts, including multi-million-dollar construction, engineering, and equipment agreements.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong experience in sourcing technical manufacturing equipment and managing contracts with EPCM, EPC, GC, D/B service providers for major projects.
  • International sourcing expertise, including negotiating complex, multi-year contracts for a multinational corporation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of capital systems, from concept to implementation, with demonstrated leadership in delivering successful commercial outcomes on complex projects.
  • Expertise in budget formulation, capital program administration, resource allocation, and supplier evaluation.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving abilities, with proficiency in advanced continuous improvement (CI) or lean manufacturing tools.
