The Field Assistant will support the Technology Development & Agronomy Organization in Clear Lake, IA. This position offers hands-on experience in agricultural research and field operations, assisting with planting, data collection, plot maintenance, and harvest activities. The Field Assistant will work closely with the Area Research Manager (ARM) or Technology Development Representative (TDR) to ensure high-quality product data collection and regulatory compliance.

The Field Assistant will support the Technology Development & Agronomy Organization in Clear Lake, IA. This position offers hands-on experience in agricultural research and field operations, assisting with planting, data collection, plot maintenance, and harvest activities. The Field Assistant will work closely with the Area Research Manager (ARM) or Technology Development Representative (TDR) to ensure high-quality product data collection and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all OSHA and client safety protocols.
- Assist with seed preparation, product delivery, field preparation, and regulatory compliance.
- Support planting activities with the guidance of ARM or TDR.
- Data Collection: Record and manage field data accurately.
- Plot Maintenance: Perform mowing, hand weeding, spraying, and ensure proper signage placement.
- Mid-Season Activities: Participate in field tours, training sessions, and field days.
- Harvest Support: Assist in harvest-related tasks across the region.
- Equipment Maintenance: Conduct preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
- Ensure adherence to USDA-APHIS & client Stewardship regulations for plot testing.
- Equipment Hauling: Safely tow and transport equipment on a trailer as required.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs
- Ability to pass pre-employment Driver’s Checks (MVR & FMCSA Checks)
- This role requires driving a truck and/or trailer with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 10,001 - 26,000 lbs (DOT Driver).
- Experience operating farm equipment
- Familiarity with Windows Operating Systems & basic computer skills
- Prior agricultural experience or field research experience
- Certified Pesticide Application License (or ability to obtain one)
- 4-6 years of relevant experience
- Travel is required for this position.
