Welding Manager will oversee the Weld Department, ensuring efficient production, quality control, and team management while maintaining safety standards. This role involves supervising TIG welding operations, coordinating workflow, and fostering employee development to meet company and customer expectations.
Welding Manager Responsibilities:
- Provide direct managerial oversight of the department and personnel.
- Coordinate, plan and direct all activities of the Weld Department that contribute to the repair of the turbine engine component.
- Establish daily, weekly, and monthly objectives and communicate the plan to the weld team.
- Oversee the safety and well-being of the team in accordance with the company standards.
- Monitor assigned work while reviewing completed jobs/projects to ensure adherence to work scope and company expectations.
- Utilize computer software programs and applications in assigning, verifying, tracking, and monitoring metrics and job assignments.
- Manage personnel work hours, scheduled time off, shift schedules, and overtime to meet the customer requirements.
- Perform functions, such as performance reviews, employee development, accountability of team members, conflict resolution, and disciplinary action.
- Collaborate with designated trainers and department managers to monitor, guide, and improve upon employee development as well as process improvements.
- Conduct regularly scheduled department meetings, including monthly meetings and smaller more frequent group meetings as required.
- Communicate changes that affect employees in a timely manner.
- Detect issues in efficiency and suggest methods for improvements.
Welding Manager Requirements:
- Advanced educational accreditation is strongly preferred, Highschool graduate required.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience in manufacturing.
- 2+ years of experience interpreting shop drawings, work scope instructions, and applying basic shop math.
- 2+ years of TIG welding experience.
- TIG welding course completion from a recognized school preferred.
- AWS welding certification and proficiency in standard software preferred.
