R&D Laboratory Technician conducts routine research laboratory activities, information/data management activities or operates laboratory equipment in support of research and development.

R&D Laboratory Technician Responsibilities:

  • Identifies and suggests improvements in methods, plans projects of limited duration and scope, troubleshoots when erroneous or unexpected results occur. 
  • Responsible for producing research experimental results, or information/data management results, or assembling and configuring of small scale production equipment and control systems utilizing a variety of techniques, effectively documenting findings and communicating results. 
  • Will work with the team to build and quality control vectors to be delivered to numerous customers using lab protocols and training prescribed by the group. 
  • Making high quality DNA fragments using various molecular techniques (PCR, restriction digestion, gel electrophoresis) .
  • Interacting regularly with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) and with automated equipment such as liquid handlers.
  • Setting up reactions for vector construction and transforming into appropriate bacterial strains.

R&D Laboratory Technician Requirements:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Biological Studies, or related field such as Plant Science or Biotechnology is preferred.
  • Experience working in a lab environment
  • Knowledge of aseptic techniques, as well as experience using laboratory equipment such as liquid handlers is preferred.
  • Experience with DNA extraction, isolation, and PCR testing is preferred. 
  • The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, practice vast attention to detail, and possess robust organization skills.
  • This position requires great communication skills and the ability to work with a team as well as individually.
