We are in search of a Senior Epic Scheduling / Cadence Consultant with a robust background in academic health systems (5+ years). This specialized role requires expertise in designing, building, and maintaining advanced scheduling tools within Epic. The successful candidate will possess a thorough understanding of the end-to-end processes, particularly in referrals, decision trees, visit types, templates, and MyChart ticketing.

Senior Epic Consultant Responsibilities:
  • Design, build, and maintain a variety of scheduling tools within Epic, including decision trees, visit types, templates, modifiers, visit type modes, appointment requests, subgroups, pools, and MyChart ticket and direct scheduling.
  • Develop design recommendations based on user stories and requirements.
  • Assess the potential impact of change requests and design solutions that maximize value while prioritizing workload effectively.
  • Analyze multiple requests to determine the most efficient path forward, focusing on intuitive end-user changes while minimizing build and testing time.
  • Conduct comprehensive analyses to address operational challenges and create decision documents recommending alternative courses of action.
  • Identify when additional subject matter expertise is needed and seek operational input and other Epic application assistance.
  • Determine and execute the appropriate level of testing necessary for confident delivery based on the scale and nature of the change.
  • Manage weekly workloads based on insights from weekly huddles and swiftly address risks to progress, ensuring timely escalation if issues remain unresolved.
  • Lead, motivate, and influence stakeholders through change, effectively communicating complex topics in an understandable manner.
  • Ensure all necessary stakeholder approvals are obtained before advancing to the build and implementation of a change.
  • Build, test, and implement new functionalities within the Cadence suite.
Senior Epic Consultant Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing, building, and maintaining scheduling tools within Epic systems across various academic health systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize design recommendations and assess the impact of change requests.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate multiple requests and formulate the most strategic path forward.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and the capacity to determine when a broader analysis is needed.
  • Strong communication skills with proven ability to lead and influence stakeholders through complex changes.
  • A commitment to ensuring all necessary approvals are obtained before project advancement.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certification in relevant Epic modules.
  • In-depth experience with end-to-end process understanding, particularly in referrals.
  • Proven track record of effectively managing workloads and identifying risks.
