The Operations Leader is accountable for providing leadership that aligns with the organization needs on a day-to-day basis as well as develop long-term strategy to deliver consistent results. The leader will also be responsible for managing and teaching their team to enforce data-driven decision making and foster a strong team environment.
Operations Leader Responsibilities:
- Ensure a safe, clean, and environmentally compliant work environment and build a culture where safety is the priority.
- Lead and support safety initiatives and processes to drive towards zero recordable injuries.
- Serves the Autonomous Maintenance (AM) Pillar Leader.
- Lead change and continuous improvement efforts in support of the work, team, and facility objectives.
- Maximize operational uptime and maintain peak efficiency.
- Oversee the training and development of production team.
- Provide communications of all plant initiatives and performance expectations.
- Minimize costs through efficient use of labor and materials.
- Maintain equipment to promote efficient operations.
- Collaborate with other department leads ensuring a strong team environment.
- Manage employee performance through daily interactions and annual performance reviews and individual engagement plans.
- Communicate customer expectations and ensure that all products meet customer specifications, standards and requirements.
- Ensure timely and accurate production to schedules in order to meet or exceed delivery to promise.
- Ensure operational procedures exist and are followed to product specifications and quality metrics are met to meet customers’ needs.
- Determine organizational objectives and priorities in support of the Plant’s strategy and vision, and for developing teams to deliver results in support of these objectives and priorities.
- Prepare budgets relative to capital expenditures, manpower, production, and space forecasting.
- Facilitate process improvements through people deployment, productivity enhancements, high performance work teams and being a model for change.
- Utilize data driven decision-making processes, such as Six Sigma.
- Investing in the growth and development of individuals identified as high potential talent.
- Establishing clear and measurable expectations of performance and review commitments to ensure goals are achieved; completing first line leader performance appraisals and coaching employees to develop and execute growth and development plans.
Operations Leader Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree required, Master’s degree in related area preferred
- 5+ years progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing facility or environment
- LEAN Manufacturing - TPM experience preferred
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Lean Certification is preferred at time of hire and required within two years in job
- Experience in leading, assessing, and developing talent to deliver results
- Demonstrated capability in change management
- Experience working in a union environment preferred
- Ability to organize and lead multi-functional teams
