The Automation & Controls Electrical Engineer will provide technical support to manufacturing teams to drive improvements. They will also execute medium and large projects including translating needs, defining scopes, estimating costs, evaluating resources, and coordinating for commissioning and startup.  
                         
Automation & Controls Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Provides leadership and project management on electrical technical improvements to improve product quality, equipment uptime, and line utilization. Ensure successful design principles, and that projects are completed on time and on budget.
  • Oversee and manage contract engineering resources across multiple projects.
  • Monitors projects for compliance with applicable codes and accepted engineering practices.
  • Ensures all projects are delivered consistent with scope and expectations around operability and costs.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert on key controls applications.
  • Provides technical support to manufacturing including operations, maintenance, process support and to the R&D team.
  • Assists plant personnel in troubleshooting of various control systems.
  • Ensures PLC/HMI controls are appropriately configured and programmed.
  • Ensures electrical safety through LTT, control reliability, and guarding/interlocks is achieved. Use expertise to lead electrical safety in the division.
  • Serves as an expert in the division’s technical applications.
  • Provides technical and process support to key business resources.
Automation & Controls Engineer Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in electrical engineering in a manufacturing environment.
  • General understanding of all applicable electrical codes.
  • Strong project leadership skills and ability.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills to quickly assess situations, develop appropriate solutions, and manage execution.
  • Strong knowledge of motor control, programmable controllers, software, instrumentation, feedback control systems, and control system networks.
  • Experience in Rockwell Allen Bradley PLC and HMI Programming (RSLogix5000, Studio5000, FactoryTalk View), Siemens TIA portal, Wonderware, and/or Inductive Automation.
  • Familiarity with pneumatics, hydraulics, control valves, and servo systems.
  • Experience in equipment check out, debugging, start-up / commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to travel 30-40%.
