R&D Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing, developing, and coordinating multiple projects concurrently, and of various sizes, from concept to production/completion.  This role involves working across the organization and with cross-functional teams while being accountable for executing project deliverables, managing budgets, and establishing timelines.

R&D Project Manager Responsibilities:
  • Leading projects through the Stage Gate Process, ensuring alignment with company objectives, regulatory compliance, and industry best practices
  • Demonstrates complete knowledge of the organization’s products, policies, and capabilities.
  • Demonstrates specialized, technical knowledge of the chemical manufacturing industries
  • Project Oversight: Manage and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards
  • Stage Gate Process Management: Facilitate the Stage Gate Process by defining project stages, milestones, and deliverables. Coordinate gate reviews and ensure that all necessary documentation and approvals are in place before transitioning to the next stage.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, engineering, production, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs, to ensure project alignment and communication.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize their impact on project timelines and outcomes.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines throughout all project phases.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and present regular project status reports to stakeholders, highlighting key metrics, progress, challenges, and accomplishments.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and expenditures are tracked accurately.
  • Continuous Improvement: Implement best practices and lessons learned from completed projects to enhance future project performance and the Stage Gate Process.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality of deliverables and motivate the team to deliver top quality work. Maintain a positive work environment.
  • Manage launch planning and orchestrate execution of the commercial release of a product
  • Manage cross-functional NPI/NPD projects relative to product line extensions, quality enhancement, and cost reduction initiatives
  • Manage the day-to-day project execution, including internal meetings, client meetings, and all communications. Monitor timelines, budgets, and recommend necessary changes to objectives, resources, deliverables, and schedules.

R&D Project Manager Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Quality, Engineering or applicable discipline required.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in project management required
  • Prior experience required working in a manufacturing environment required; chemical manufacturing highly preferred
  • Relevant certifications (PMP, CAPM, Six Sigma) highly preferred
  • Proven experience with the Stage Gate Process and project management methodologies (e.g., PMP, Agile).
  • Strong understanding of chemical manufacturing processes, product development, and regulatory requirements (e.g., EPA, OSHA).
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools (Alchemy, MS Project, etc..)
  • Ability to work independently and within a team collaborating while driving change in the organization
  • Excellent technical, organizational, interpersonal, collaborative, and verbal/written communication skills are required.
  • Enthusiasm, confidence, and initiative-taking ability needed for continuous learning and its applications.
  • Excellent organization skills to multi-task and manage multiple projects/assignments.
