Manufacturing Quality Specialist

Ensures compliance with internal and external requirements by performing inspections of products, materials, and components at various stages of the production process. Provides support for the quality of all products and services from incoming raw materials to assembly, testing, and shipping.

Manufacturing Quality Specialist Responsibilities:
  • Ensures adherence and implementation of safety requirements.
  • Performs inspection on:
    • First Piece Inspection
    • Final Inspection
    • Receiving QC Inspection
    • In-Process Inspection
    • First Article Inspection
  • Responsible for creation of nonconformance documentation (NCRs) when nonconformances are detected at any inspection stage.
  • Ensures that all quality requirements are being followed.
  • Completes first article inspection reports (FAIRs) in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
  • Sets up and adjusts gages using required equipment or masters per specification requirements.
  • Works with quality engineering in the design of new or modified gaging when required.
  • Provides leadership, technical support, and guidance to operators and other areas in need of assistance on all quality-related topics.
  • Creates inspection and control plans.
  • Performs mechanical inspection of metal parts using gages such as micrometers, calipers, optical comparators and height gages.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office.
  • Engages with the team to drive continuous improvement site-wide by offering solutions and best practices where applicable.
  • Assists with the calibration program. Engages with external vendors, operators, and other users to successfully calibrate and return gages in a timely manner.

Manufacturing Quality Specialist Requirements
Education/Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years of quality or precision machining experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Able to read and interpret technical part drawings.
  • Familiarity with GD&T.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in a highly-regulated environment (aerospace, medical device, automotive) a plus.
  • Eagerness to learn.
  • Demonstrated computer competency.
  • Self-starter
