The Plant Operations Manager supervises staff, including hiring, training, and coaching employees.
Plant Operations Manager Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all EHS aspects, including adherence to company standards, legal reporting, and ISO 14001 programs.
- Advising on all engineering aspects of equipment and improvement, including capital projects and future planning.
- Managing the operational and fiscal activities of the department, including staffing levels, budgets, and financial goals.
- Directing and coordinating plant operations within company policies and procedures. Accountable for meeting productivity and quality goals for the plant.
- Overseeing on-site logistics coordination for incoming and outgoing loads.
- Managing all financial aspects, including cost and capital projects, and setting up and reviewing all allocations and methodologies.
- Establishing and directing plant policies and procedures.
- Conferencing with department heads to ensure coordination of purchasing, production, and shipping.
- Selecting and training plant supervisory and administrative staff. Coaching and providing career development advice to staff.
- Scheduling and conducting plant meetings.
- Planning and developing systems and procedures to improve the operating quality and efficiency of the plant.
- Analyzing and documenting processes and problems and developing solutions to enhance efficiency.
- Coordinating and implementing solutions from process analysis and general department projects.
- Directing staff in the development, analysis, and preparation of reports.
- Establishing employee goals and conducting employee performance reviews.
Plant Operations Manager Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, material science, or a related field is preferred.
- 7-10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with increasing levels of responsibility.
- Experience in lean manufacturing, process engineering, and capital projects.
- Knowledge of production and processing, mechanical systems, administration and management, engineering and technology, lean manufacturing, manpower utilization, Microsoft Office, and JDE.
- Strong leadership skills in training and accountability.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Active listening, speaking, coordination, critical thinking, and management of personnel resources.
- Problem-solving and complex analysis skills, including statistical aptitude.
