Public Health Policy Department Chair will be responsible for overseeing and directing the execution of compliance and operational strategies for public health programs, particularly within the behavioral health sector. This role will also play a key role in overseeing policy and program implementation and ensuring full integration with relevant stakeholders. The role requires expertise in team leadership, strategic planning, policy development, and coordination across internal departments and external organizations to maintain program integrity and regulatory compliance.
Public Health Policy Department Chair Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation and compliance oversight for public health programs.
- Review and approve changes to program rules and procedures, ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines. Provide policy direction and strategic support for program updates.
- Assess enrollment trends, identify barriers to access, and address challenges related to member engagement and service utilization.
- Supervise the policy team and work with managed care organizations and partners to ensure smooth policy implementation. Ensure behavioral health services are integrated with care management for cohesive service delivery.
- Oversee the development, revision, and compliance of provider agreements and ensure all contractual obligations are met.
- Guide the development of administrative rules and regulations, assess program performance, and ensure alignment with established goals and objectives.
- Manage and supervise staff of 15+ personnel, including recruitment, task delegation, and ongoing performance evaluations. Provide regular feedback, set clear goals, and foster professional growth and development within the team.
- Serve as the primary liaison with community partners, service providers, legislative bodies, and state and federal agencies.
- Lead the preparation of detailed reports, analysis, and briefing documents for senior management and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Operations Chief and Managed Care teams to assess readiness for new services and updates. Advise senior leadership on program developments, emerging issues, and strategies to address challenges in the field.
- Maintain organized records, logs, and files to support program activities and compliance requirements.
- Travel as required to attend meetings, conferences, and site visits.
Public Health Policy Department Chair Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Public Administration, Health Services, Social or Behavioral Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience in public health administration and behavioral health program management, with a focus on program oversight and compliance. Expertise in health policy and regulatory frameworks, including state and federal laws.
- At least 5 years of supervisory experience, with a proven ability to lead teams, manage performance, and foster staff development.
- Knowledgeable in healthcare statistics, public budgeting, and payment practices for health services.
- Skilled in assessing program effectiveness, ensuring quality assurance, developing corrective action plans, and compliance monitoring.
- Skilled in analyzing program data, preparing reports, and interpreting policy and regulatory materials.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, engaging with stakeholders including government officials, service providers, and the public.
