The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the decontamination, cleaning, processing, sterilization, and distribution of medical supplies, instruments, and equipment used in patient care. The ideal candidate will have a meticulous attention to detail, a commitment to following strict protocols and procedures, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Sterile Processing Technician Responsibilities:

  • Perform decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of medical instruments and equipment according to established protocols and standards.
  • Operate and maintain various sterilization equipment such as autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, and sterilization chambers.
  • Monitor and record sterilization parameters including time, temperature, and pressure to ensure effectiveness and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, equipment maintenance, and inventory levels.
  • Inspect instruments and equipment for cleanliness, functionality, and integrity, reporting any defects or discrepancies to appropriate personnel.


Sterile Processing Technician Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
