The Sterile Processing Department Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department, ensuring effective decontamination, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and equipment. This role involves managing staff, coordinating schedules, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards to uphold patient safety and support surgical procedures.  

Sterile Processing Department Supervisor Responsibilities: 

  • Manage and supervise staff in the Sterile Processing Department.
  • Oversee operations for mutually agreed-upon shifts.
  • Coordinate schedules and workflow to ensure timely processing of surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Enforce adherence to established protocols and regulatory standards for sterilization and decontamination.
  • Collaborate with surgical teams and other hospital departments to meet sterile supply needs.
  • Implement quality improvement initiatives and resolve equipment or process-related issues.

Sterile Processing Department Supervisor:
  • Strong background in sterile processing with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience.
  • Relevant certification (e.g., CRCST) is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with at least one year of managerial experience.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
