Senior Research Chemist will serve as a scientist responsible for formulation and new product development in adhesives, sealants, and foams.

Senior Research Chemist Responsibilities:
  • Knowledge and comprehension of silicone chemistry and formulation of silicone products including sealants, adhesives, and foams.
  • Able to improve existing formulations as well as develop new products. 
  • Understand the market needs for silicone products and able to identify opportunities requiring technical solutions
  • Deep understanding of alkoxy, moisture cure, two-part addition, heat-assisted cure mechanisms and the impact of formulation and process variables on product rheology, cost, and performance.
  • Able to collaborate with universities, scientific organizations, government agencies and corporate partners.
  • Understanding of environmental and health and safety requirements a plus.
  • Maintain working knowledge of ERP systems and processes.  Update and maintain the accuracy of engineering masters, raw material specifications and safety data sheets as needed.
  • Experience with other polymer systems such as PVC foam a plus.
  • Develop technical data around the performance characteristics of existing product lines to develop new marketing tools and to assist technical service to customers.
  • Understand the significance of various quality control and physical property tests, procedures and methods.  Interpret results and determine appropriate courses of action when required.
  • Collaborate with the management team to ensure alignment of company objectives.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing, to facilitate new product development, marketing campaigns, and product offerings.
  • Acts as a technical resource in troubleshooting potential problems and issues that require special handling
  • Interpret customer requirements and technical specifications to help determine the appropriate product offering
  • Identify process improvement opportunities within internal processes and through communications, programs and other activities as needed.
  • Continually works towards self-development to stay current on technical procedures and practices.
  • Act as liaison for internal and external communications directly with customers as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Senior Research Chemist Requirements:
  • Master's degree minimum required; PhD highly preferred
  • 6+ years’ experience progressive R&D experience with silicone products
  • Deep understanding of chemistries of and the ability to formulate silicone products.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for new product development and to execute a plan to deliver new products.
  • Learn quickly while continually recognizing and adapting to changing conditions.
  • Facilitate innovation and creativity to generate ideas for new products.
  • Make sound decisions and implement practical, timely solutions.
  • Benchmark and measure product effectiveness and drive change for improvements.
  • Ability to employ good judgment, work independently, act with integrity, take ownership and accountability, and seek advice when necessary.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and document preparation skills.
