Job Purpose:

The Job Coach works directly with youth participants and their families from the application review, eligibility determination, work site placement, to training and orientation prior to the participant’s start date. The Job Coach mentors and coaches youth/young adults through their work experience, focusing on navigating the supervisor-employee relationship and emphasizing soft-skills development through one-on-one sessions. The Job Coach will visit participants' work sites at least 2-3 times a week. We seek individuals with experience in mentoring, coaching, or teaching youth, along with polished customer service skills and strong data management abilities.


Essential Functions:
  • Build and maintain working relationships with program youth, their families, and worksite supervisors.
  • Review youth timesheets each week for accuracy and completion, resolving discrepancies promptly while maintaining accurate reports.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for youth participants and their families regarding the program, work experience, and payroll-related inquiries.
  • Maintain and update accurate and complete files for each youth participant, ensuring the integrity of each file.
  • Assist youth participants with all aspects of program enrollment, including application paperwork, work permit processes, health exams, and employment forms as needed.
  • Conduct program orientations and workforce development training for youth participants.
  • Visit work sites at least 3 times a week once the program begins, ensuring proper supervision, adherence to labor laws, and program quality.
  • Resolve any issues that arise at the worksite in a way that supports both the youth participant and their supervisor.
  • Attend and participate in staff/team meetings as required.
  • Submit reports and paperwork in a timely manner, as directed by the Team Leader and Program Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Communications, Education, Social Work, or another relevant field preferred. High School Diploma required.
Requirements:
  • Must accommodate a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekend shifts.
  • Must have experience in a leadership, mentor, or coaching role with youth/young adults.
  • Must have experience in customer service and strong data entry skills.
  • Proficiency with databases, spreadsheets, and word processing tools required.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and/or at-risk youth and young adults.
  • Must have valid transportation to/from offices, partner organizations, and community-based locations to meet staff and participants.
  • Must pass a background BCI/FBI check as a condition of employment.

Work Environment:
  • This position is based in an office setting and will require regular travel to participant worksites, community partner organizations, and other offices.
  • The work pace may be fast, and the job requires up to 2 hours of continuous work at times.
  • Moderate supervision from managers with intermittent prompts expected.
  • Frequent social interaction with clients and team members.
  • Work may involve exposure to varying conditions, including extreme temperatures, noise, heights, or other hazards.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk frequently.
  • Ability to bend, rotate, and reach frequently.
  • Ability to carry, push/pull, or lift materials weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to ascend/descend stairs safely.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
