EHS Manager is responsible for managing the site Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security programs. This is accomplished through collaboration with the Plant Manager and Corporate EHS in the development of and adherence to site ESH policies, procedures, and protocols. A primary objective of this position is to ensure plant operations are compliant with applicable federal, state, local, and corporate environmental, health, safety, and security regulations and standards.
EHS Manager Responsibilities:
- Ensure self and team compliance of all site EHS policies, procedures, and protocols
- Maintaining and implementing EHS programs in accordance with Federal, State, and local regulatory requirements, including all record keeping and required submissions
- Develop and provide appropriate training and support to employees and contractors related to site safety programs as well as maintaining compliance with Federal and State requirements
- Manage the profiles of waste generated from the operations according to State and Federal EPA and DOT regulations
- Responsible for the management and development of site EHS personnel through training, communication, performance feedback, skills enhancement, and coaching
- Manage and document loss prevention activities, industrial hygiene activities, medical support, and emergency preparedness activities
- Work with management, supervisors, and hourly personnel to maintain an excellent safety record and reputation
- Complete special projects as assigned
- Conformance with the Quality and Environmental, Health, Safety and Security policies and awareness of ISO 9001 and RC14001 management system requirements applicable to this position
- Support implementation and maintenance of the ISO 9001 and RC14001 management systems
EHS Manager Requirements:
- 4-year Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a chemical environment
- 5+ years of supervisory experience
- Good communications skills, ability to interact with customers, strong technical aptitude, and ability to multi-task
- Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NJTCPA, NJDPCC, NJPDES, RCRA DOT, and DEA regulations desirable
- Computer literate – Word, Excel, PowerPoint
