We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Part-Time Porter to join our Food Service Department. This weekend-only role is ideal for someone who is passionate about nutrition, enjoys supporting patients, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. You will play a critical role in maintaining a clean and efficient food service operation, contributing directly to the patient and visitor experience.
Porter's Responsibilities:
- Accurately dish up, portion, assemble, and serve food items according to menu standards and production sheets.
- Prepare hot and cold food using grills, ovens, stoves, and food prep equipment.
- Assist cooks and kitchen staff in food preparation and final food assembly.
- Arrange food attractively on dishes and ensure proper portion control.
- Transport and retrieve patient trays, ensuring quality service and efficiency.
- Assist nutrition assistants (host/hostess) with patient meal service as needed.
- Set up and clean up for special events, luncheons, or meetings as directed.
- Operate dish machines and handle tray disassembly following infection control procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of work areas and kitchen equipment.
- Report equipment malfunctions or utility issues promptly to a supervisor.
- Work collaboratively with team members across departments while providing courteous service to all patients, staff, and visitors.
- Adhere to all department policies including attendance, dress code, confidentiality, and safety protocols.
- Complete mandatory training and education to meet departmental and organizational competencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Willingness to learn and follow proper food handling and sanitation procedures.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service and patient care.
- Dependable and punctual with a positive attitude.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift.
