Technical Sales Manager - Polymers

Technical Sales Manager for Polymers will be responsible for maintaining and expanding customer relationships, driving a 10% year-over-year sales growth for the polymers division. This position will involve offering expert advisory support for current product portfolios, managing service-related requirements, and serving as the key point of contact between customers, internal service teams, and external partners.

Technical Sales Manager Responsibilities:
  • Maintenance of customer relationship of defined customers; log calls into Sales Force.
  • Achieve a 10% year-over-year growth in sales for the material science polymers division while maintaining existing sales.
  • Customer advisory regarding existing product portfolio and further service support related Polymers department; log communication to customer account in SalesForce.
  • Relationship maintenance with internal service departments (CSC, Logistics, etc.).
  • Quoting, price negotiations and conclusion of contracts (where appropriate) based on defined rules.
  • Collaborate with internal customers to coordinate and resolve customer complaints.
  • Collaborate with technical colleagues on applications, support customers and drive growth projects (market launch of new products).
  • Determination and control of payment terms, creditworthiness, payments of commissions in collaboration with Regional/Global management and financial department.
  • Maintain and control SalesForce and SAP accounts.
  • Manage daily activities  including samples, setting up new accounts, opportunities, etc., acting as liaison.
  • Active participation in exhibitions, conferences, and fairs; document in SalesForce.
  •  Vet all incoming calls for Material Science that are unassigned direct accounts, work with marketing on leads from shared email.
  • Cold leads by phone; log all calls in SalesForce.

Technical Sales Manager Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Biology or related field. 
  • 3+ years experience in a similar sales position required. 
  • Industry specific expertise including experience in materials science, polymer additives, flame retardants, and thermal insulation.
  • Proficiency in application development and materials characterization.
  • Fluent in presenting technical content and translating science into business value.
  • Versatile communicator- equally comfortable in a lab, with customers, or at an industry conference.
  • Extensive customer-facing technical support.
  • Proven ability to drive revenue and market expansion.
  • Experience working with global teams.
  • Travel activity approximately 50-60% of job.
