Transportation Specialist

Transportation Specialist will be responsible for daily support functions essential to managing/tracking the shipment fleet. This will include daily report generation, updating and maintaining internal fleet assignments, and utilizing major websites and our Transportation Management System for tracing, tracking, and updating shipments.

Transportation Specialist will be responsible for daily support functions essential to managing/tracking the shipment fleet. This will include daily report generation, updating and maintaining internal fleet assignments, and utilizing major websites and our Transportation Management System for tracing, tracking, and updating shipments.
Transportation Specialist Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily assignments to team to ensure the production lines move efficiently and safely. Assignment/spotting of truck loads
- Oversee the end-to-end transportation process for specialty chemical products, including scheduling, routing, and delivery.
- Coordinate with carriers, freight forwarders, and internal stakeholders to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of products.
- Monitor the performance of transportation providers, evaluating service levels, costs, and delivery timelines.
- Optimize transportation routes and methods to reduce costs while maintaining high service quality.
- Maintain records in Transportation Management System
- Review and interpret transportation reports
- Coordinate with operations, customer service, logistics, procurement, planning and occasionally other internal functions as needed
- Report freight counts to logistics for review
- Conduct calls to review any issues or gaps in shipments
- Manage order to fulfillment process for all bulk and package orders
- Identify problem areas in the order fulfillment process and work to implement changes to enhance service levels
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers in designated coverage areas to enhance customer confidence
- Work closely with cross functional groups including sales, finance, tolling, plants, and distribution to ensure customers requested order needs are met
- Ensure customers are billed timely and accurately for orders received
Transportation Specialist Requirements:
- HS Diploma minimum; Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics or relevant discipline highly preferred
- 2+ years of experience in Logistics, Transportation, or Supply Chain focus
- Microsoft Office experience & proficiency
- Experience using an ERP system
- Strong organizational & time management skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to communicate effectively across the organization
- Process improvement mindset and problem-solving ability required.
- Excellent customer service, time management, and positive communication skills.
- Transportation/operations/customer service preferred working in a fast-paced environment.
- Microsoft Office skills – intermediate level
- Transportation knowledge of LTL (Less than Truckload) and TL (Truckload)
Preferred Qualifications:
- SAP experience preferred.
